The gig economy is the exchange of labour for money between individuals or businesses through digital platforms that actively facilitate matching between providers and customers on a short-term and task-by-task basis. The rise of this kind of workforce in India is a direct outcome of embracing a digital age.
Because they can work low-intensity jobs while learning complementary skills, gig workers can devote more time to learning new skills than traditional workers. A gig economy, from the perspective of a worker, can improve work-life balance over many traditional jobs that most millennials and GenZ seek.
